Birthday Letter to My 5 Year Old Boy
Dear Owen,
5 seems like a really official big boy age. It is very hard for me to believe how fast this is going. It did not seem fast when you were a newborn and I slept in a recliner with you for 8 weeks straight. It did not seem fast when you wouldn't go to sleep at age 2 without picking my fingers, while holding hands, and making me sing Moon River 20 times before bed. It did not seem fast when you went through age 3 and we added a new baby to the mix. But when we sit on the couch and you reach over and grab my hand absentmindedly while watching TV, it actually makes me miss you picking my fingers. And I actually LOVE that even at 5 years old you ask me to sing your song before you go to sleep (especially since 1 time is fine with you now). This is my last year to spend at home with you before you start your school journey. I am trying to soak up every minute.
You are super smart, hilarious, silly, kind, creative, have such a big heart, and you are seriously the best dancer I know! I could not be prouder of the big boy you have become. You love to test us but always reel us back in with your sweetness! I have loved being your mommy from day one. You will always be my boy, my oldest, the one who gave me the job I have wanted my whole life. I love you to the moon and back, my baby bird!
xoxo
